Foglight has been Quest’s flagship network monitoring tool, and this version extends its reach to VDI implementations and gives you visibility into performance and availability of particular images across your network and storage infrastructure. There are also new connectors to enable Android phones and Mac and Linux desktop users to bring up the virtual workspaces in these environments.
- Foglight Network Management System, speaking of which, is now available for a limited use free download for managing up to 100 devices.

- vRanger Pro v5.2, which was announced earlier this summer, is Quest’s backup and recovery tool. This version has ESX and now ESXi replication using a virtual appliance architecture for even greater performance, and integrates fully with vSphere v5 for scalability and secure operations and compliance.
Note: I did some custom consulting work for Quest on their Foglight NMS product last summer.
