Republican presidential candidate Donald J. Trump has not mentioned cryptocurrencies once during a recent public conversation with billionaire Elon Musk.
According to a recent Coindesk report, the US Presidential candidate did not mention Bitcoin (BTC) or any other crypto-related topic during his recent X Spaces interview with Musk. The conversation between the two attracted over one million listeners and was wide-ranging — covering a variety of topics including illegal immigration, the economy, artificial intelligence (AI), and global warming.
Was Tump-Musk conversation interrupted by a DDoS attack?
Musk also lamented a “massive distributed denial of service (DDoS)” against the social media platform that caused the interview to be delayed by over 45 minutes. He said:
“As this massive attack illustrates, there’s a lot of opposition to people just hearing what President Trump has to say.”
A subsequent Verge report cited a source claiming that there was a “99 percent chance Musk was lying” about the attack. Cybersecurity watchdog organization Netblocks suggested that the X Spaces service was simply experiencing international outages — without confirming or denying the cause being a denial of service attack.
Crypto prediction market Polymarket saw users giving 65% odds of crypto being mentioned during the interview. Over $600,000 was bet on the topic, with a secondary bet topic for the possible mention of Bitcoin reaching a 69% predicted likelihood with about $330,000 worth of bets.
Other words that Polymarket participants bet on Trump mentioning included “MAGA,” “illegal immigrant,” and “tampon.” User bama1234 made over $1 million by correctly predicting most of the words that the Republican presidential candidate would or would not use during the conversation.
The user’s largest stake was in Trump not mentioning crypto, which had him earn $336,918. Bama1234 was wrong about the presidential candidate not mentioning “MAGA” — which he did early on — and “trans,” which he ended up not mentioning at all. The user’s current positions are worth nearly $1.2 million and his volume traded exceeds $11.6 million.
