Marvel Rivals is potentially coming to Switch 2

Marvel Rivals developers, NetEase Games, confirm discussions with Nintendo to bring the hero shooter to Switch 2.

The team-based tactical shooter has seen a lot of success on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms. However, Nintendo fans have longed to join in on the Marvel bandwagon.

As reported by IGN, an interview at the 2025 Dice Summit revealed that the hero shooter has set its sights on Nintendo’s recently revealed successor to the Switch.

Weicong Wu, Marvel Rivals producer, said: “We’re already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits.

“And whenever we find that we could provide great performance for our game on Switch 2, we’re open to that.

“The reason why we didn’t launch it onto the Switch it was the first generation of that device they cannot provide a great experience for our gameplay. So if it could achieve that goal, we’re open to that.”

So, while a port to the original Nintendo Switch seems like a fever dream, “Marvel Rivals: Switch 2 edition” seems a lot more plausible.

It’s not surprising, given the current Switch’s lackluster hardware. While the Switch 2 isn’t nearly as a PS5 or Xbox Series X, it should suffice enough to not break when Dr Strange opens a portable during a match.

Fans can get their hands on the new portable console as early as April 2025, though it’s not certain whether the game will be available then or on its rumored launch day.

And with Marvel Rivals in talks with Nintendo, it’s not farfetched to imagine other live service shooters, like Overwatch 2 or Fortnite, eyeing the new console too.
