Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to launch by September according to games publisher

Major game publisher Nacon expects the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 to launch by September 2025.

As a game publisher and accessories manufacturer, Nacon is likely to get advance notice of major releases to plan their promotions and activities for the year. In an excerpt from Nacon’s third quarter of 2024/25 sales press release, Nacon writes that it “already has compatible games and a full range of accessories” for the new console.

Notably, Nacon also states that “business levels in the first half of [fiscal year] 2025/26 will be supported by several positive factors,” and one of these is “the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2 console.”

Nintendo Switch 2 release window

This release window of September 2025 would align with the usual Nintendo rhythms, on the heels of the game company officially announcing the successor console, after years of hopes and months of rampant rumors.

With Nintendo Switch 2 Direct confirmed for April 2, we’re sure to get more information around then. That includes a better a look at Mario Kart 9, the unofficial name of the console’s accompanying game already glimpsed in the reveal trailer.

Pre-orders for the console won’t go live until more games have been officially announced, at which point we’ll probably also get a confirmed release date. Certainly, it’s unlikely that the Switch 2 will come out before the summer at the very earliest.

Considering that Nacon also started it has various compatible games and accessories, it seems likely that cases and extra joycons will be available down the line, perhaps even from launch. Indeed, for the original Switch, you could pick up various colours and cases to customise the compact console to your preferences.

The publisher has launched a wide variety of games over the years, so it doesn’t offer many clues to narrow down what to expect, although it does have a special focus on simulator games.
