Marvel Rivals has done very well for itself, sure it’s had a few issues such as server logins or even containing a bug that lays bare your darkest secrets to the entire Dark Web, but don’t let it worry you, so do most things on the internet.
Anyway, the first half of Marvel Rivals’ Season 1 is all set to conclude on February 21, 2025, at 8:00 (UTC+0) and a developer blog post has highlighted what we can expect. At this point, “Players at Gold rank or above (season-high) will receive a costume reward, and players at Grandmaster rank or above along with the Top 500 will obtain Crest of Honor.” – so far, so relatively meaningless.
The next bit may not land quite as well.
“Ranks will be reset when the second half of Season 1 starts on February 21, 2025”. That’s right folks, there is a full-on rank reset and players need to be prepared for a “drop of four divisions. For example, if you ended the first half of Season 1 at Diamond I, you’ll start the second half at Platinum II.” Eek.
There’s potentially worse news to follow with, “Going forward, players can expect to kick off the start of each new Season with a drop of six divisions and the start of the second half of each new Season with a drop of four divisions. We will tune this as necessary!”
At least we kinda have an outline now of what to expect come new season time.
There are a few more interesting caveats to reward-earning that you can read in more detail in the dev blog post such as, “Starting from the second half of Season 1, players will need to complete at least 10 matches in competitive mode and meet the required conditions to claim their rewards.”
The second half of Season 1 will also bring new costume rewards for Gold ranks along with new Crests of Honor which will be reserved for only the best players.
We wait to see what the Marvel Rivals community thinks of all these shenanigans.
