Tripleplay to support Samsung’s Tizen based signage platform from early 2018

When it comes to display manufacturers, there are a lot of companies in this domain fighting hard to fire those pixels. However, only a handful of them happen to get some consumer popularity. Among them are Sharp, Japan Display, LG, BOE Technology Group and of course Samsung Display. One advantage that Samsung has in this lot is that it is a complete Electronics company that manufactures its own ICs, System on a chip and a whole lot more. This gives Samsung more flexibility to experiment and adapt new technologies at a faster rate.

Now, Digital signage, IPTV and video streaming firm Tripleplay will be supporting Samsung SMART Signage Platform that runs on Tizen. The services will also take advantage of Samsung’s full Lynk DRM encryption to easily secure content. One of the key factor that distinguishes Samsung’s SSSP from the rest is its ability to work standalone without the requirement of an external media player. This is achieved thanks to an embedded system-on a-chip (SoC). Samsung made the switch to Tizen for its signage business last year in June and in recent times, the company has even launched Tizen 3.0 powered QLED signage products.
This support for Samsung SSSP will be added as a standard in the Caveman 1 software release which is due in Early 2018. It is worth mentioning that Tripleplay recently brought support for LG webOS based display solution along with BrightSign Media Players. The new support for Samsung SSSP according to Tripleplay is to utilize approximately 10,000 end points that are deployed on Samsung SSSP which is essential for its clients and partners.
