Sirin Labs‘ thousand-dollar, crypto-centric smartphone, Finney, is here. The Israel-based company recently launched the device at an event in Barcelona and has now put it up for sale, at $999. It is a smartphone designed for a very specific group of people — crypto fanatics — and early birds do get a special discount of $100.
Sirin Finney – the safest smartphone ever
The Sirin Finney is claimed to be the world’s most secure smartphone yet. It is a fully-featured smartphone that comes with an embedded hardware wallet for storing cryptocurrency. It has a metallic frame, while the back side is made of Gorilla Glass. And as reported by us earlier, it packs some really juicy specs beneath that shiny chassis.
The Sirin Finney sports a 6-inch 18:9 display with a notch design. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, expandable via an SD Card. This dual-camera phone runs on SIRIN OS, which the firm advertises as an ultra-secure, Google-certified fork of Android 8.1 Oreo. The whole package is powered by a 3280mAh battery, which comes with quick-charging support (50% charge in 30 minutes).
As for crypto enthusiasts, the Sirin Finney comes with an embedded cold storage wallet which has a separate hardware element. It is a 2-inch multi-touch screen which pops up from the top of the phone. Every crypto transaction needs to be verified from this screen. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and SRN — the firm’s native token — are the cryptocurrencies currently supported. Sirin Labs will be adding support for more currencies in the future.
The Sirin Finney is currently on sale at $899 from the company’s website. However, the big issue is that the company accepts payments only in its own cryptocurrency (SRN). More payment options are promised, but there’s no time frame at the moment.
Are you a crypto fanatic enough to pick up the Sirin Finney? If yes, make sure to grab it soon. The phone may be available in limited stocks, with the company reportedly hoping to sell about 100,000 units. Click on the “Buy Now” link below to check out the phone at Sirin Labs’ website.
