Samsung plans to bring its TV Plus free streaming service to its mobile devices. The mobile app is currently in the development stage in order to deliver the same functionality that is available on compatible Smart TVs.
TV Plus was first introduced last year as Samsung’s free streaming service and is available in the companies Smart TVs from 2016 and later. So far, Samsung has not officially spoken of a mobile app, but Sammobile’s ‘sources’ have told them that a mobile app is in development.
Additional information like release date, compatibility and availability have not been leaked – yet. However, it is suspected that the Samsung TV Plus mobile app will we available for Galaxy devices. After all, the service is only compatible with Samsung’s range of Smart TVs. In effect, other brands of Smart TVs cannot access the service – which gives Samsung an edge in the competition.
However, it is an educated guess that the service is only coming to Galaxy smartphones (and maybe tablets). Samsung’s most recent tablets – like the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, have an additional focus on multimedia experiences. Adding TV Plus to the device would seem fitting. As well as this, the newest Samsung smartphones have nice displays that could support a movie-watching experience. And some of the screens are MASSIVE!
What will we be able to do on mobile?
Samsung TV Plus for mobile will let you watch the same Live channels as it does on Smart TVs. Upon launching the app, users will also have access to VOD (Video on Demand) content.
