Samsung is releasing Neo QLED 8K (QN900A) and 4K (QN90A) sets are set to use mini LEDs, and apparently the 12-bit, 4,096-step luminance won’t compete with OLED’s “perfect” contrast ratios, but it should make bright colours brighter and darker colours darker than regular LCDs.
Samsung says the LEDs in these TVs are up to 40 times smaller than those in sets with the usual full-array backlighting. Packing more LEDs into a smaller space gives you more better backlighting.
The Neo QLED 8K has new features coming with it. According to Samsung, the new TVs have a bezel-free ”Infinity One” design, object-tracking sound, and a cable management box you can stick on the back. The 4K quality option has more obvious bezels and lacks other perks.

Regardless of the LEDs, you can hope for better 4K and 8K upscaling thanks to a new processor with 16 AI processing models. Super UltraWide GameView allows aspect ratios up to 32:9, and Game Bar lets you quickly change settings while you’re playing a game. You will even get eco-friendly input. Samsung is giving all of its 2021 TVs a solar-powered remote that can charge from any light source, making it useless to buy new batteries.
Other TV lines will gt their upgrades for 2021. The micro-LED line now comes in expected TV designs that don’t require a special installation like The Wall. It will be available in 110-inch, 99-inch and smaller sizes by the end of 2020.
Samsung hasn’t released pricing for their 2021 TVs, but you can expect the Neo QLED line to ship in the first quarter of 2021. Most of these models are considered premium TVs.
