Made by Google 2024: Google Pixel 9 update and what to expect

TLDR

  • Google's "Made by Google" event will unveil the latest Android releases today.
  • The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro Fold are confirmed, with leaks hinting at AI integration.
  • The Pixel 9 series may go on sale today, following Google's usual product launch pattern.

All of the details around the newest Android releases are expected to be unveiled today as the Made by Google 2024 event gets underway.

While leaks have provided eager onlookers with some insights into the Pixel 9 lineup, the technology giant will likely confirm and share new details. This will be live-streamed from California and will begin at 1pm EDT or 10am PDT.

This comes off the back of the Google I/O event which took place a few months ago but was found to be quite light on product announcements as AI updates were favored.

What to expect from the Made by Google event 2024

The company has confirmed it’ll be launching the Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, but other surprises are expected throughout the day.

The actual design, specs, and features of the new phone device range were leaked at the end of July, but today will finally confirm if the rumors are correct.

Just days ahead of the event, the expected US pricing of the Pixel range was shared too. If this is true, the Google Pixel 9 Pro will start at $999.999, with the 256BG and 512 GB models priced at $1,199.99.

Another leak has shown an attempt to further integrate artificial intelligence into the range which matches with Google having long been teasing the arrival of more artificial intelligence across all its products.

On the marketing material for the event, two Pixel phones are featured alongside writing that reads ‘Oh hi, AI’ so this inclusion could be heavily focused on.

The rumor showcased marketing materials detailing a ‘Pixel Screenshots’ feature alongside an image of Gemini and a ‘Circle to Search’ tool.

There could even be a third Pixel 9 model, but we’ll need to wait and see.

If the Alphabet-owned company carries on with how they traditionally do it, the Pixel 9 could be available today – causing all of the speculation to be over with.
