Over the years, Samsung Electronics has unveiled a lot of Tizen-powered devices, many of which have received positive reviews. Two years ago, Samsung decided to start shipping Tizen on all of its upcoming Smart TVs as part of a bid to boost Tizen TV ecosystem. Since then, we have seen the likes of the SUHD TV line which was unveiled at CES 2016, Las Vegas, an event in which Samsung released a total of 49 TVs at the same time. Now, to further boost the popularity of Samsung-Tizen TV, Jio Cinema has been added to its Tizen TVs.
Jio or Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited is an LTE mobile network operator in India. Since its inception in 2010, it has expanded its tentacles and many Samsung-Tizen devices such as Samsung TV’s, Samsung Z2 and the likes are compatible with its services. Jio Cinema is one of many Jio apps that are available to Tizen OS devices. At launch, Jio released a suite of mobile applications to its users such as Jio Cinema, Jio Money, Jio Music, Jio TV, etc. Some of these applications such as Jio Tv, Jio Music and Jio Cinema became very popular as it provided users with free multimedia content at no subscription fee at that time.
Jio rose to instant popularity when it released Jio TV app for the Samsung Z2 which lets users watch over 300 live HD and SD TV channels for free. As at February 2017, it had surpassed 100 million subscribers. Many thanks to its free unlimited calls and 4G internet that the company offered to its subscribers as part of its testing phase.
Samsung Tizen TV’s are available globally and has performed very well. The inclusion of the popular Jio Cinema to its Tizen OS is definitely a plus to the ever growing popularity of Samsung TV.
