DraftKings to launch mobile sports wagering in Missouri on December 1

DraftKings is launching its mobile sportsbook in Missouri on December 1, months after being granted a temporary mobile sports wagering license, according to a press release from the sportsbook operator.

This was given by the Missouri Gaming Commission and will allow DraftKings to operate across the state independently without such a need for an affiliation with either a professional sports team or a land-based casino.

DraftKings’ launch in Missouri marks the 29th state in which the sportsbook operates, and players in the state will be able to take advantage of betting options, including odds boosts, in-game wagering and same-game parlays from next month onwards.

“DraftKings is built for passionate sports fans, making Missouri an exciting jurisdiction for us to enter with its rich sports culture, and several professional teams across the state,” said Greg Karamitis, the Chief Revenue Officer of DraftKings.

“This is an incredible time of year for sports fans with NFL, NBA, NHL, college football, and college basketball all in-season, and we look forward to elevating the experience for Missouri sports fans, responsibly, with our top-rated online sportsbook.”

Legends of Missouri sports will be present to host a ceremonial first bet event on December 1, including Tony Gonzalez, Isaac Bruce and former Ice Hockey star Brett Hull.

DraftKings will continue to expand

With its expansion into Missouri, DraftKings are showing no sign of slowing down. In a report documenting the operator’s fourth quarter results from 2024 earlier this year, the sportsbook stated that it expected to launch in Puerto Rico.

A Retail sportsbook is already in operation, with online sportsbook operations planned and awaiting the required licence.

Last year, DraftKings CEO Jason Robins had one eye on Texas being the next state to launch the operator’s online sports betting platform.

As of yet, nothing has materialized, and it could be a few years yet before the Lone Star state welcomes online sports betting.

California – America’s most populous state – is also another key target, but it could be a few years until the state legalizes sports betting.
