Donald Trump’s odds to win election slip on Polymarket after Presidential debate

After the first presidential debate between hopefuls Kamala Harris and Donald Trump took place on Tuesday (Sep 10), Trump’s odds of clinching a victory have slipped 3%, according to Polymarket betting patterns.

The former President’s odds dipped throughout the debate, and with the decrease, Trump’s chances stand at 49%, tied with Harris also at 49%.

The statistics come from Polymarket, a prominent and large betting market that accepts cryptocurrency. Since the start of the election campaigns, the site has been seen as a way to gauge the sentiment of those connected to, or interested in, crypto in regards to the presidential candidates.

Other national polls are slightly more favorable towards Harris, with 538 by FiveThirtyEight suggesting the Vice President has a 47.1% chance of winning in comparison to Trump’s 44.4%.

The change comes after no mention of cryptocurrency was uttered on the big stage, despite Trump referring to it several times throughout his own campaign.

There are more opportunities for the topic to be discussed though, with the election not taking place until November 5.

Taylor Swift shares her endorsement

Shortly after the televised debate, pop sensation Taylor Swift took to her Instagram platform to share her support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

In a caption against a photo of her and her cat, she said: “Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site.

“It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about the actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.

“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”

Swift goes on to describe Harris as being a “steady-handed” and a “gifted leader.”
