In recent times, there have been several complaints of overheating issues’s with some Samsung TVs. These complaints have been around for more than a year now but have been recently increasing, so much so that the company had to issue a statement via its official product forums. The South Korean manufacturing giant acknowledged the issues of overheating with some of its TV’s and said that the complaints have been referred to its technical support unit. As of now, the actual cause of this issue is not known and Samsung’s next line of action cannot be predicted. From user reports so far, the 6200 and 6300 LED series in addition to 5200, 5300, 5500, 6200, 6350, 6400, 6900, and 7200 lineups have all had this overheating problem at some point. Evidence of overheating manifests as melting of screen corners in severe cases while milder scenarios just show an appearance of vertical bars, a pixelated screen edge or varying display colors.
Samsung stated on its official product forums that only a few units experienced melting of screen corners. However, there is a huge volume of complaints which indicates that this problem is not limited to a couple of cases. As of now, there has not been any report that suggests property damage and even though Samsung has acknowledged the problem at hand, it has not given the actual cause of the overheating neither has it suggested any solution. Reports have emanated mostly from the United States while a handful of complaints have been received from Dubai. Nevertheless, these are not the only regions to have experienced this problem. This type of problem is not strange to Samsung Electronics, recall that the Galaxy Note 7 went up in flames sometime last year which forced the company to recall the device at a huge cost. It is not clear if Samsung will recall the affected units or issue a replacement for those affected.
