Tor-based private messaging app Briar is out of beta

Briar, in case you didn’t know it, is a peer-to-peer, end-to-end encrypted messaging app. One of the strengths of the application is the fact that it uses the Tor network to sends and receives messages. The app become more well known when it entered public Beta last July 2017. Now, the app has graduated Beta status and final version 1.0 of Briar has been released.
Who needs Briar? Well, according to the company themselves, the service would be idea for “activists, journalists, and anyone else who needs a safe, easy and robust way to communicate.”
Modern day privacy is of the upmost concern as we have more “Big brother” surveillance impacting on our freedom of speech. More and more countries are adopting a policy of its citizens or employees towing the official line that freedom of speech is being irradicated without it being officially seen as such.

You can grab it now on the Play Store for Android devices, but sadly it is not available for Chromebooks yet.
