Tizen based Gear 360 – 2017 model Smart Camera makes a stop at the FCC

The Gear 360 has proven to be an interesting experiment for Samsung, bringing an opportunity for consumers to capture 360-degree photos and videos that bring virtual reality to life for many who prefer to use it with their Gear VR and the pre-installed photo gallery. The first-generation Gear 360 has seen some good price drops, and price drops are usually a sign that a new, next-generation device is around the corner.
The timing of the first-gen. Gear 360 price drops do not disappoint.
A new Gear 360, the 2017 Gear 360, has been spotted stopping by the FCC a few days ago. The new model has dropped the rumored “Gear 360 Pro” moniker and opted for just “Gear 360” (though there’s some evidence that the new VR camera could be called “Next Gear 360” when it lands). The 2017 Gear 360 bears the model number SM-R210, following the SM-C200 model number from last year’s Gear 360. The device will be smaller than last year’s model and lack the tripod setup of the first model.
All products entering into the US must receive FCC certification, and the Gear 360 seems to be headed for the American market. Last year’s Gear 360 offered a Tizen-powered experience, with features such as a microSD card, IP53 splash resistance, dual, fish-eye lens that produces 30MP images, and a $350 price tag. The first-generation Gear 360 now works with other Android smartphones running 5.0 Lollipop and above as well as non-Galaxy S7 Samsung smartphones.
