The Sims community has been abuzz with excitement over the last few weeks, with EA pulling out all the stops to celebrate The Sims 25th Anniversary, bringing in commemorative Kits, free base game updates and in-game anniversary events. They also released The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 legacy editions to celebrate the iconic first games in the franchise.
Now, fans have been eagerly awaiting the next Expansion Pack to arrive in The Sims 4, with many hoping that it’ll continue EA’s recent trend of bringing back the goofiness of the early Sims games. The Love Struck and Life & Death Expansion Packs were praised for their silliness and nostalgic vibes and the most recent trailer for the next Expansion Pack hints at another much-wanted addition…tattooing and tattoo parlors! Here’s what we know so far:
that's gonna leave a mark... 😉

Whilst tattoos have been a customisable component of The Sims 4 since the start, they’ve been quite limited in their design and you’ve also only ever been able to add them via the create-a-sim menu. There’s no gameplay tied to tattoos or tattooing, and for quite some time it’s been something that the Sims community has been begging to be added.
In a 10-second teaser posted to X, The Sims team shows a tatted-up Sim lying in a tattoo bed, presumably getting a fresh new tat. The teaser announces a new trailer and links to a youtube video that will premier at 11am EST and 4pm UK time on the 6th of February 2025.
So what can we expect based on this trailer? It definitely looks like tattoo parlors will become a thing, and that we could even expect a tattooing career in the game too. We can also probably expect new moodlets or even personality traits relating to tattoos. We also know a few “unofficial” things about the next pack, which I’ll allude to briefly below – read at your own risk of spoilers!
*Spoilers ahead*
Recent leaks relating to the Expansion Pack have also suggested it’ll revolve around small businesses and hobbies, which definitely tracks with this most recent official trailer drop. This likely means that being a tattoo artist will probably become a new career in the game, but the exact level of tattoo customisation and the finer details of running a small business are still unknown for now. With the trailer dropping in a couple of days, we (and all the Sims Youtubers) will be sure to dissect the video frame-by-frame to uncover everything to come in the next Expansion Pack. Stay tuned with us here at ReadWrite Gaming for more on this upcoming Sims 4 pack!
