The developers and patenteers are busy at Samsung. We’ve been hearing all rumours about a SIM-enabled Gear wearable and now we get serious rumors about the next wearable. Something to do with BLINK which strongly suggests that eye movements or eye activation is being worked on. In South Korea the name Gear Blink has been trade-marked. It’s just a name, so no further information is applied but in combination with rumors about glasses, like Gear Glass make it not too unlikely a future part of reality. It’s speculation but the only alternative that pops to mind would be a bracelet or pendant with LED’s on it. Which, in the late nineties, might have been a smashing hit but it would not be worth the costs of trade-marking.
It’s all pretty sketchy but there are quite a lot of patents applied for that have to do, or could be used, in a wearable product that might also hold prescription glasses. Or a nano-beamer that emits into ones’ eyes and assuring an always in focus image. Smart glasses then, that might be equipped with a bluetooth earpiece or a head-up display. The same rumors put the introduction around the same time as the Note4, sometimes fall 2014.
And rumors are not just blogposts. How about this artists impression?
