Samsung has rolled out an update to its Samsung Pay app in India, introducing the Samsung Rewards program in the country. Samsung Rewards are essentially “points” users can earn every time they make a payment using Samsung Pay. The rewards program is valid for Samsung Pay Mini as well.
Samsung Rewards in India
With Samsung Rewards, Indian users will earn earn reward points on credit and debit card transactions, government-backed BHIM-UPI, digital wallets, bill payments and recharges via Samsung Pay. The accumulated reward points can be redeemed for purchasing Samsung products and partner vouchers. Samsung Rewards is over and above the Reward or Loyalty point’s users earn from credit and debit card spends, merchants, retailers, existing discounts and cashback offers.
This rewards program in India has 3 tiers, namely – Silver, Gold and Platinum. Higher the transactions, higher the earning. Users will automatically move up the tiers, from Silver to Platinum, based on their Samsung Pay usage. Samsung will also organise campaigns from time to time for users to earn ‘Accelerated Rewards’ and bonus points, the company claims.
How to earn more reward points
Samsung Pay users in India will earn reward points for up to 15 unique transactions every month. The first five transactions fall in “Silver Tier” and you’ll earn 10 reward points for them. The next five, transaction 6 to 10, are categorised under “Gold Tier” with 15 reward points per transaction, whereas the “Diamond Tier” transactions, from 11 to 15, earn you 20 reward points each.
Things to remember
- Transaction count will reset on the first day of every month.
- Reward points earned every month are valid for twelve months through the last day of the month.
- You can earn reward points for up to 15 transaction every month.
- Minimum transaction value to earn reward points is Rs. 50 for UPI and wallets, and Rs. 100 for recharges and bill payments.
- A user can earn reward points on up to 3 transaction per day for UPI and wallets.
To avail these benefits and rewards, update to the latest version of the Samsung Pay (or Mini) and register for Samsung Rewards. And with the latest update, Samsung Pay Mini users will be able to add their FreeCharge wallet as well. Paytm and MobiKwik support is already there since some time.
