The 11th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), one of the biggest sporting event (Cricket) in the world, is about to begin. Ahead of its start, Reliance Jio, India’s largest internet service provider by subscribers, has announced a special data plan for Cricket fans in the country. Called ‘Cricket Season Pack’, the plan offers a total of 102GB high-speed 4G data with a validity of 51 days. The plan is priced at Rs. 251 and will be effective from April 7 to May 27 (as long as the IPL lasts).
Jio Cricket Season Pack
Reliance Jio is targeting the IPL fans in India with this special pack, saying you can “stream almost every live match throughout the duration of 51 days” of the IPL. IPL begins on April 7 and so does the validity Jio Cricket Season Pack. Similarly, the pack expires as soon as IPL ends on May 27. During the 51 days in-between, Jio will offer 102 GB of data to Jio Cricket Season Pack subscribers, at a rate of 2 GB per day. Like with any other daily data plans from Jio, the unused data of the day will expire at midnight.
As mentioned earlier, the plan is priced at Rs. 251, effectively costing less than Rs. 2.50 for a GB of 4G data. Furthermore, users will get to watch IPL matches at less than Rs. 4.20 per match. Though Jio is promoting this plan as Cricket Season Pack, it’s not in any way tied to cricket or video streaming, and can be used for any purpose.
Hotstar, an alternate video streaming service in India, has also announced a special pack of Rs. 299 that will let users livestream sports matches, including Premier League, Formula One and all Grand Slams etc. Meanwhile, Airtel TV app will allow cricket fans in India to livestream IPL matches for free.
Jio Cricket Play Along mobile game
Along with the Cricket Season Pack, Jio has also launched a live mobile game called ‘Jio Cricket Play Along’. The live game will be available in 11 Indian languages for 7 weeks across 60 IPL matches. Jio says the game will offer real-time interaction during the cricket matches, and certain prizes will be up for grabs.
Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan Live show
That’s not all, Jio has also announced a new TV show called ‘Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan Live’. The show will be hosted by comedian Sunil Grover and sports anchor Samir Kochhar. They will be joined by several comedians and popular cricketers such as Kapil Dev and Virender Sehwag. The show will premiere at 7:30pm on April 7 exclusively on the My Jio app, with live episodes airing every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Jio claims to offer “unseen off-the-field experience, a hearty dose of laughter, exclusive comments by Cricket experts, and celebrity guests” on the show.
