International Game Technology (IGT), which has been in business for almost 50 years, has announced a rebrand as it becomes Brightstar Lottery.
The company shared the news through a press release on Tuesday (June 17), with the organization to begin doing business under its new name immediately.
IGT’s Gaming and Digital business (IGT Gaming) is expected to be sold to Voyager Parent, LLC by July 1, with the company to become a ‘premier pure play lottery business designed to elevate lotteries and inspire players.’
The rebrand comes at a time when a new direction has been determined, with the brand aiming to invoke “the Company’s forward-thinking global leadership in the lottery industry, acting as a guiding light and source of inspiration and innovation for lottery customers and players.”
The company will continue to serve almost 90 lottery customers and their players across six continents. It’s also the primary technology provider to 26 of the 46 lottery jurisdictions in the U.S. and seven of the world’s largest lotteries.
Newly rebranded Brightstar will be known as such, effective immediately
While the business will now be known as ‘Brightstar,’ the legal name will be officially changed to ‘Brightstar Lottery PLS’ when it is registered with the U.K. Companies House which is expected to happen after the closing of the sale.
“We have a nearly 50-year history of reliability, innovation, and leadership in lottery, a bedrock from which we are launching Brightstar with a future-forward mindset of helping lottery customers around the world succeed in an environment of digital adoption, shifting player expectations, and an increasing variety of gaming choices,” said Vince Sadusky, CEO of Brightstar.
Throughout the announcement, the team involved continues to highlight how this contributes to its mission of innovation.
“Brightstar will be well-positioned to focus on driving innovation and growing the potential of the lottery business responsibly for the entertainment of players, the success of our customers, and the support of the good causes they fund in their communities,” said Marco Sala, Executive Chair of the Board, Brightstar.
