Betr owner Jake Paul offers Saquon Barkley a Ferrari

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul found himself in hot water after offering a Ferrari to NFL star Saquon Barkley in an unusual wager.

The Philadelphia Eagles player Saquon Barkley stood to win the bet if he was awarded MVP at Super Bowl LIX, an event that saw an estimated $1.4 billion in bets.

Jake Paul, a popular boxing influencer who fought Mike Tyson, posted a video leading up to the Super Bowl.

In the clip, he challenged the NFL player through his sportsbook company, Betr, and placed one of his own Ferrari’s on the line.

As reported by the Mirror, Jake Paul said: “This is a message for Saquon Barkley, and Saquon Barkley only. If you win the Super Bowl MVP, I think you can do it, brother.

“Have so much love for you. You’ve been dominating all my Betr Picks Line-ups this whole season.

“I will give you one of my Ferraris if you win Super Bowl MVP. Come on, baby. Download Betr.”

The video has since been deleted following the Eagle’s victory over Kansas City Chiefs. Not because Jalen Hurts ended up winning MVP, but because the post violated betting regulations.

It was revealed that the bet Jake Paul issued broke sports betting rules in one of the two states where Betr is licensed to operate.

As SBC America reports, Ohio was unhappy with Jake Paul’s bet with Saquon Barkley, demanding Betr remove the video.

Andromeda Morrison, general counsel of the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC), said: “As is common practice, the Commission reached out to Betr to ask them to remediate the non-compliant material. Betr has complied with the request.”

Jake Paul gets to keep his Ferrari for the time being, but a close shave with the OCCC almost cost him a lot more than that.

Betr is a fantasy and sportsbook company established by Jake Paul that deals in gambling and sports betting. Last year, Betr was awarded the Maryland wagering license.

In other news, DraftKings is handed a $425,000 fine from Ohio.
