Americans estimated to have bet $1.4 billion at Super Bowl LIX

The American Gaming Association (AGA) predicts a staggering $1.39 billion was wagered during Super Bowl LIX.

The game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs was predicted to exceed the $1.25 billion record placed by last year’s Super Bowl.

Bill Miller, AGA President and CEO, said: “No single event unites sports fans like the Super Bowl, and that excitement extends to sports betting, with this year’s record legal handle reflecting its widespread appeal.

“This figure underscores the positive impact of the legal market, from protecting consumers to generating tax revenue that benefits communities across the country, while enhancing the game experience for all.”

It is possible that even more money was exchanged on Sunday. AGA estimations from last year detailed all bets, including casual and illegal bets, totalled around $23 billion, a $7 billion increase form the previous year.

Bets placed at Super Bowl LIX

For the first time in America’s history, a state other than Nevada was predicted to bring in the most wagered money. It was also the first time the Super Bowl was broadcast in Dolby Atmos –  an immersive audio technology that creates 3D spatial sound.

With over 38 states plus Washington D.C offering a legal means to bet on sports, more players are eager to learn how to place bets in the Super Bowl LIX event.

After the 40-22 victory from the Eagles, there were a lot of winners and losers this year.

According to Fansided, some of the biggest bets placed were in favor of the Philadelphia Eagles. BetMGM in Nevada had bets worth $800,00 towards the Eagles, and $345,000 for the Chiefs.

A $300,000 bet was placed at DraftKings in favor of the Eagles, and Caesar Sports received a $250,000 bet predicting a victory for the Philly’s.

AGA has yet to disclose the official total sum of bets placed at the Super Bowl this year.

What happened at Super Bowl LIX?

Super Bowl LIX was held on February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

In the Super Bowl LIX event, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was named MVP after scoring three touchdowns.

This year’s sports event marked a second championship win for the Eagles, and thwarted the Chiefs from claiming a historic three time victory.

The event featured numerous high-profile names, including a highly anticipated performance by Kendrick Lamar.

Taylor Swift and Donald Trump also attended to watch the event from the stands.
