The Samsung Strategy & Innovation Center (SSIC) and SmartThings are working closely with the newly announced Artik Platform. Yesterday Jeff Hagins, SmartThings CTO, took to the SmartThings website to update the community to what this all means for SmartThings.
SmartThings knew that they had a missing component to the platform, of a stand-alone Device Cloud, which is a Platform-as-a-Service that allows device manufacturers to easily create a connected device and companion mobile application (iOS, Android, etc) without having to actually build and maintain the Cloud components of that solution. The Samsung line of Artik IoT modules is a significant opportunity for SmartThings to build on and expand their existing ecosystem.
