Earlier this week there was an update for the WhatsApp native app for Tizen devices, which now takes us to version 2.12.17 downloadable from the Tizen Store. The update is said to contain mainly “security features” as well as some additional features listed below:
New changes / features
- Security features
- Save incoming media for specific chats
- Improved browsing photos and videos design
- Solid colors for chat background
- Zoom in videos while playing
- Pull down in-app notifications to quickly reply
WhatsApp BETA Call users
If you are currently part of the WhatsApp Call BETA users group, then it is recommended that you update to this version, but you will however lose the ability to make Whatsapp voice calls. The link that you previously provided to enable the download of the beta version will be disabled from today and also the functionality is due to be discontinued from the relevant servers, effectively marking the end of the BETA.
Update procedure for BETA users
If you are part of the BETA group then you will need to follow the Instructions below in order to successfully update to the latest version:
- Download version 2.12.17 from the Tizen Store
- Go to Settings -> Apps -> App Manager and uninstall Facebook services
- Restart your handset
- Launch WhatsApp and then you will be prompted to upgrade FBS.
With the end of the WhatsApp BETA it is hoped that voice calling will go live very soon as part of the next software update for this app.
