Samsung made quite an Impact at IoT World 2015 as the company unveiled its new Artik platform that enables faster, simpler development of new enterprise, industrial and consumer applications for the Internet of Things (IoT), expanding the opportunities that are open to developers and businesses alike. The Initial members of the Artik family consists of the Artik 1, Artik 5 and Artik 10 development boards.

Artik 1 is a tiny board at 12mm by 12mm with Bluetooth / BLE connectivity and is ideal for small form-factor IoT applications, were size and power consumption are issues. Artik 5 is more for home hubs, drones and high-end wearables. Artik 10 is the top spec’ed unit offering an Octa-core processor with full 1080p video decoding/encoding, 5.1 audio and 2GB DRAM along with 16GB flash memory.
This platform follows on from promises made at CES 2015 as being an Open platform, which will enable rapid deployment of IoT devices and delivery of associated services.

ARTIK 1
The smallest IoT module currently available in the industry at 12mm-by-12mm combines Bluetooth/BLE connectivity and a nine-axis sensor with best-in-class compute capabilities and power consumption. It is specifically designed for low-power, small form- factor IoT applications.

ARTIK 10

The Samsung ARTIK 10 includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth/BLE and ZigBee connectivity and is designed for use with home servers, media applications, and in industrial settings.
