UFC 317: Topuria V Olivera bets, time and predictions

Headlining UFC 317 in Sin City is the clash between Ilia Topuria and former champion Charles Oliveira for the UFC lightweight championship.

Taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on June 28, the best bets on the bout and the statistics involved make for an exciting night under the lights.

UFC 317: Topuria V Olivera betting preview

Topuria, hailing from Halle in Germany, is a Georgian-Spanish mixed martial artist with a proficiency in making his opponents tap out. Turning professional in 2015, he came into the sport with doubts that he could knock out opponents with just one to his name, but he had an impressive seven submissions and zero losses.

He’s battled at featherweight in the UFC with major victories (via knockout) over Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski in 2024. He’s become a fan favourite, and his striking has gained more and more acclaim as his career progresses.

“El Matador” told Olivera over social media, “Don’t forget to bring the pillow” in the lead-up to the headline match-up. He’s the bookie’s favourite with a line of +125.

His opponent, Olivera, is an experienced performer at this weight class and has victories over Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje under his belt. His grappling power and his ability to slow down Topuria will be vital if he is to emerge victorious.

The bookies are lenient on the pricing for Olivera, which could play into his hands and those of hopeful bettors at +480. Topuria may have the momentum and the acclaim of top pundits, but Olviera holds the most submissions in UFC history, and the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu master can be lethal on his day.

Round betting favours Topuria with rounds 1 to 4 progressing from +400, +500, +800 and +1300 respectively. He has six wins by knockout, 8 wins by submission and 9 first-round finishes. He is +1900 to end the fight in round 5.

Oliveria has higher odds, but interestingly, the veteran is known for wearing down and drawing out opponents, with 21 wins by submission. Rounds 1 to 5 have him +1700, +2000, +2600, +3000 and finally +4000.
