Today Webroot, the security-as-a-service company, launched a new, more comprehensive security suite.

Called Webroot Internet Security Complete, the new product focuses on four elements: Faster new threat response due to Web-based platform, device synch and web portal access, multiple layers of ID protection and a more agreeable UI.
With the number of online threats seemingly increasing at least geometrically, along with rapid growth in mobile computing, Webroot banks that the real-time update abilities and the portability of data will set it off from the crowd.
Among other noteworthy features of the new suite are:

- Cloud-based technology that instantly scans and classifies URLs returned in search results, sent in emails, or posted on social networks to protect you from visiting malicious sites
- Malware scanning is up to 5x faster over Webroot’s last full product release
- Automatic malware scanning now takes place on a daily basis when your computer is idle to avoid disrupting you
- Automatic quarantine of malware that’s detected – which means fewer alerts and interruptions for customers
- Lost wallet service including credit card monitoring for up to three credit cards (US only)
With each new Web service a possible point of entry for security compromise, it may make sense to fight fire with fire. Security in real-time and from the cloud may be a movement we’ll see more of in the future.
