LG has been making a new smartwatch that they have named the LG Watch W7. The Interesting thing about the watch is that it mixes the strengths from both the traditional watches and now the new digital smartwatches.
On the screen, we have the traditional clock hands that has been created in collaboration with Swiss Watchmaker Soprod SA. The smartwatch has many smart features, hence the ‘smart’ part of it. But if you disable those smart features, the 240mAh battery can run the analogue watch for 100 days. But it seems like not many people will disable these features when busy or even in general. The smartwatch has been rated IP68 which means you can let it tag along on your adventures without worrying about it to some degree. It can resist dust, dirt, sand and water up to a depth of 1.5m for up to 30 minutes.
The LG Watch W7 also stars a range of ‘Master Tools’ for people that like to venture in the outdoors. The range includes a compass, altimeter and a barometer. Sadly, there is no GPS. Standard 22mm bands are used for the watch that can be switched and changed like many other watches in the market. LG has its own collection of watch bands that are from leather to metal or sporty.
This watch is powered by the fairly old Snapdragon Wear 2100 chip (which has been superceded by the Snapdragon 3100 chip). It’s packed with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage. Its touchscreen is 1.2″ LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) with a resolution of 360 x 360px.
Where can you buy the shiny new watch? It will be available on Best Buy and will cost $450. The pre-orders will start in a few days on October 7, not too long left to go! You could also wait another week, until October 14, to check the watch out in-store.
