Sony is expanding the reach of its wearable product Bravia Theater U as it launched in India on Monday (September 23).

Bravia Theater U is a neckband that has been dubbed by the technology company as being able to provide “wearable cinematic bliss.

It’s essentially a wireless speaker for movies and music that sits around the neck and it is now available in India for the price of Rs 24,990 (approximately $298).

The company claims the device has a 12-hour battery life, along with a multipoint connection which means it can connect to and switch between two devices simultaneously. When paired with Sony’s compatible TVs, it has Dolby Atmos sound.

This comes four months after the US market was able to get its hands on the product, with it being initially launched on May 28 alongside other products in the Bravia Theater range.

“Building on the decades of operating at the heart of the professional film production equipment development as well as film production and distribution, Sony is in a unique position that allows it to utilize its unparalleled film industry, professional equipment, and consumer electronics experience with its pioneering BRAVIA TVs and BRAVIA Theatre home audio devices,” the head of the home entertainment business unit at Sony Corporation, Yoshihiro Ono, said in a statement announcing the product in April.

“We’re excited to launch the new BRAVIA TV and BRAVIA Theatre home audio products that usher in new exciting features, elevating the way you can watch films at home to new heights.”

What are the features of Sony’s Bravia Theatre U Neckband?

The technology giant says every work is “crystal clear” with the neckband due to the X-Balanced Speaker Unit which increases the sound pressure while reducing distortion for clear dialogue.

It has 12 hours of power when used at a normal volume and can be charged in 10 minutes for another hour of usage.

It also boasts 360 Spatial Sound with the added feature of the 360 Spatial Sound Personalizer to help users “enjoy a personalized sound experience.”

It has a supplied wired audio cable connection which is compatible with various devices including the PlayStation 5 consoles and PCs. It’s water resistant, has an open-air design, and includes an AI-based noise reduction algorithm.
