Samsung Electronics Co. have said today that as from January 2015 they will be stopping developer support for the Bada OS and instead focusing on Tizen. The first Bada OS phone was the Wave I, which was followed by the Wave II & III, but there have been no Bada phones since and these handsets will unfortunately not be getting Tizen.
“We regret to inform you that the Bada Developers Forum will be closed in January 2015,” Samsung said on its Bada website.
The Bada OS was Samsung’s initial attempt to create its own Smart Phone OS. It was initially thought that Bada and Tizen would merge, but then Tizen ended up consuming the best parts of Bada instead.
Tizen gives Samsung something different to counter the threat of Chinese Android based handsets, and now it is hoped now that Samsung can focus more of their efforts on Tizen starting in India, followed by China and then hopefully Korea.
