Rockstar employees deny any GTA 6 release date delay, contrary to rumors

The aptly named Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 1 gave us a first taste as to what to expect from the new open world experience Rockstar has crafted over a plethora of years.

Not only this but a release window of 2025 too, providing fans of the franchise at least some form of date to hold onto.

However, in recent times, there has been a variety of rumors that the 2025 release window will not be met, delaying the game.

One specific rumor came from X user Billsyliamgta, who, in a now deleted post, revealed that based on the ‘employees’ they spoke to, the game would be a 2026 release.

Billsyliamgta has been known to be reliable in the past, revealing that the aforementioned Trailer 1 would go live in December 2023.

Now, all of these rumors have been blown out of the water with Jason Schreier of Bloomberg speaking directly to six different Rockstar employees.

Schreier’s sources explicitly stated that they have “not heard of any delay”, refuting any claims that GTA 6 will not make the 2025 window.

Schreier does go on to say that GTA 6 is a “big, ambitious game and could very well slip”, so while employees have stated that there are no delays right now, there’s nothing to say things couldn’t change as we enter the next calendar year.

Furthering this, Schreier does clarify that the six Rockstar employees “weren’t *informed* of a delay”, and “Rockstar’s executive team could have decided months ago to delay GTA VI without telling the company”.

While this could be seen as very unlikely, completely ruling this out would be somewhat foolish.

All that GTA 6 fans can hope for is Trailer 2 to drop later this year, doubling down on the 2025 launch window, and potentially providing more clarity on at least the month it will release in.
