Pokemon Go’s newest update renders game unplayable for many, fans say

tl;dr

  • Update 0.325.1 for Pokemon Go causes major issues, making the game unplayable for many players.
  • Players with certain avatar clothing related to Professor Willow, Team Magma, and Team Rocket experience missing PokeStops and no spawns.
  • Users report issues on social media, asking Niantic for help and criticizing the company for releasing an unfinished update.

Normally, an update to a video or mobile game is welcomed as it helps to iron out glitches and any bugs that have occurred. But that’s not the case for Pokemon Go – at least not this time.

While version 0.325.1 of Pokemon Go is being rolled out, it’s left many unable to play the game properly due to a glitch.

Some players are suddenly unable to see PokeStops and there are no spawns, leaving the game essentially unplayable.

This is believed to only be affecting players who have avatar clothing related to Professor Willow, Team Magma, and Team Rocket.

Reddit user Breezer_Pindakaas was one of the first players to spot and report the issue while recommending users not update until the issue had been patched. The Redditor said they had the Team Magna outfit on and said: “Guess buying premium items now gets you a nice risk to get softlocked.”

Some people have reported reinstalling the older version, and said changing the outfit also will help it to work as it should.

Pokemon Go players take to social media to ask for help from developer

This has caused many players to take to social media to ask the game’s developer, Niantic, why it’s no longer working.

As well as sharing a screenshot showing an empty screen, with no pokemon in sight, one user called Brock said: “@/NianticHelp I’m having issues with the latest update 0.325.0. I cannot see my avatar, buddy, Pokemon, pokestops, or gyms.

“Also I’ve just discovered that I have to re-pair the Pokemon Go Plus + each time I want to use it which clears all the sleep data I had. Please help. Thanks.”

Another, called Hazie, shared a sad looking screengrab and said: “Just downloaded the version 0.325.0 and now I can’t see anything other than my Buddy.”

One person writes: “Once again Niantic breaks PokemonGO via their updates and then blames their users and expects us to uninstall downgrade our version and reinstall? Like maybe don’t push out unfinished updates and fix your mistakes!”
