New Jersey Casinos Report 5.1% decrease compared to 2024

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has reported the 1st Quarter 2025 Total Gaming Revenue Results, and things are looking slightly less promising than 2024.

The report conducted by the regulator shows a 5.1% year-over-year decrease to the previous year. Hotel stays and the gross operating profit of Casinos across the Atlantic City area showed signs of decline according to the results.

New Jersey casino Q1 numbers fall short of the previous year

The report comes from Matthew J. Platkin, the current New Jersey Attorney General, and Mary Jo Flaherty, the Division of Gaming Enforcement’s Interim Director.

“Casino licensees reported 1st Quarter 2025 Net Revenue of $730.3 million, reflecting a 5.1% decrease over the same quarter last year. Casino licensees reported 1st Quarter 2025 Gross Operating Profit of $132.0 million, a 15.1% decrease compared to 1st Quarter 2024,” said the report.

New Jersey is a haven for players who want to take in a game of chance and stay at a featured resort, but according to the initial report for 2025, fewer individuals were occupying rooms at entertainment locations.

The DGE statement said, “Hotel occupancy rate in the casino hotels for the quarter ending March 31, 2025, was 62.9%, which is a decrease of 1.9 percentage points compared to the same quarter in 2024.”

New Jersey residents hit the Pick 6 Jackpots

In related gambling news, two New Jersey residents have hit a six-figure Jersey Cash 5 jackpot and the New Jersey Pick 6, joining an elite group of lucky winners across 2025.

We reported that the Jersey Cash winner remained unnamed, but would be the 25th person to take home the big winnings on the Jersey Cash 5.

North Jersey reported that the New Jersey Pick 6 winner was from Essex County and racked up the $5.9 million jackpot.

“We’re starting to see some big wins this spring, which is great. We want to see that excitement build as we turn to what we hope is a busy summer for winners,” New Jersey Lottery Executive Director James Carey said.

The Eisenhower Exxon station on Eagle Rock Avenue in Roseland will be sharing the spoils as the retailer benefits from a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
