Identifying the right investors to approach for funding your startup can be challenging. ChubbyBrain hopes to make make that a little easier and equip entrepreneurs with more information and options with the launch today of its Funding Recommendation Engine.
The free services utilizes data from CB Insights, whose investment research we often cite here at ReadWriteWeb as a gauge of industry and investment patterns.
The Funding Recommendation Engine takes information about a startup – the industry, the funding requirements, the stage, the location – in order to generate a recommendation about potential investors and funding institutions. The algorithm is based on investors’ actual investment history – not just what their website touts – and uses data gleaned from CB Insights research into the investments of over 8000 bankers, VCs, angels, government grants, and the like.
According to ChubbyBrain, the goal of the service is not only to help startups find investors they might not have heard of, but to offer a “reverse due diligence,” giving entrepreneurs information so they can determine if an investor is really suited for them.
Interested in trying it out? The product is not yet publicly available, but the first 200 ReadWriteWeb readers can use RWWfunding as their invite code.
