The 26-year-old Austin Reaves is one of the most talked about basketball players right now, with everyone predicting his next moves.
According to reports, the Knicks are one of the favorites to secure the Lakers guard if a trade was to take place. While he’s under contract for the 2025-26 season, he is extension-eligible this summer.
This comes after the Los Angeles Lakers had a sore end to its season as they lost against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs.

Although nothing has been said from either the team or Reaves, the rumors are already swirling about how they’ll approach their roster with all eyes on what happens next. It’s thought that even with a potential proposal of a new contract from the Lakers, he may decline.
What is next for Lakers’ player Austin Reaves?
According to a journalist for the NBA, trading Reaves would allow the team to add quality size which is a pressing need. Some believe, however, that the chances of him being traded this summer are low.
Jovan Buha of The Athletic suggested he is most likely remaining put, as he suggested the “possibility of him being traded is actually low, at least this summer.”
Bovada Sportsbook suggests the Clippers, New York Knicks and Miami Heat are all the betting favorites to secure the player in a potential trade.
Reflecting on the end of the season, Reaves had fond memories: “I had a lot of fun.
“Forget the basketball, I enjoyed every single day going to work and being around these guys, the coaching staff, training staff, weight staff, everybody in the organization.
“From game one to game 82 and now, I just had a lot of fun. I always speak about how growing up playing with your best friends in high school, sometimes nothing will ever top that because you’ve been able to play high school basketball with guys you grew up with your whole life.
“But this is right up there with all of that. I really enjoyed it and like I said, I had fun regardless of statistics or anything. I enjoyed going to work every single day and putting in the work and going to battle with these guys.”
