It’s official folks, iOS users can now connect their iPhones to the Samsung Gear S3, Gear S2 and Gear Fit2. As from today, all you need to do is download the Samsung Gear S app for the Gear S2 and Gear S3 or the Samsung Gear Fit app from the Apple App Store. Once you launch the relevant app you will be taken through the steps needed in order to connect.
“We’re constantly looking for ways to enhance our offerings and we do this in part by listening to what our customers want – and that includes greater access to our cutting-edge wearable technologies with iOS support,” said Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing, Mobile Communications at Samsung Electronics. “By offering Android and iOS compatibility with our latest Gear devices, we’re giving users more ways to optimize their wearable experiences and connect to Samsung’s Galaxy of possibilities.”
The supported features and functions will vary depending on what iOS device you are connecting to, but you still get a great wearable device to connect to. In the case of the Gear S3, you have two distinct styles, the Frontier and the Classic, that both have IP68 water and dust resistance, as well as the built-in GPS, Alti/barometer and Speedometer apps.
Compatible iOS devices include: iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 6, iPhone 6+, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S+, iPhone 7, iPhone 7+ and iPhone SE (iOS 9.0 and above).
