If there was ever any doubt about Amazon’s growing hardware addiction, this should silence it once and for all: The e-commerce giant and maker of e-readers, tablets and TV boxes just pilfered Babak Parviz, perhaps one of the most intriguing hardware gurus to come out of Google.
Parviz—founder and former chief of Google’s Glass project, as well as its glucose-monitoring contact lenses—announced the move by updating the “About” section on his Google+ page:
“I founded and led a few efforts at Google (among them, Google Glass and Google Contact Lenses are public so far 🙂 prior to moving to Amazon and work on a few other things now…”

What’s less clear is what Parviz’s new role at Amazon will involve. His literally eye-catching expertise could play into the company’s television streaming device, signal an entirely new product pathway for some sort of wearable technology, or perhaps both via augmented reality. Either way, we can’t wait to find out what comes of his new gig.
We’ll keep our eyes peeled for developments.
