For site owners, Web analytics and social media conversations can provide quite a bit of insight into users, how they use the site, and whether or not they’re having any issues. However, there is a limit to how much intelligence can be gleaned from these sources. So what’s an effective way to get insights from your site’s users? Just ask them.
That’s the idea behind tools like Feedbackify, which recently moved out of beta. In an effort mount a challenge to similar but more costly products like Kampyle and GetSatisfaction, Feedbackify is priced at a flat rate of $19/month.
How It Works
Upon signing up, Feedbackify customers can create simple feedback forms asking users to rate the site and provide more specific feedback under a particular category (Problem, Suggestion, Compliment, etc.).
Once created, these forms can be embedded into the customer’s website via a small JavaScript snippet, which results in an unobtrusive “Feedback” button to the far left or right of the the site’s layout.
When a user browsing the site clicks on the “Feedback” button, a light box overtakes the page and displays the form, which disappears once submitted.
One of the product’s selling points, according to Feedbackify CEO Adrian Halley, is that unlike GetSatisfaction and others, the user feedback collected by Feedbackify is not displayed publicly.
“At Feedbackify we believe that for the majority of websites, visitor feedback should in the first instance be kept private,” says Halley. “Who wants embarrassing but easily fixed problems with their website being broadcast to the world?”
The company won’t disclose the number of users they have currently, but they say do have paying customers around the world and have been profitable since their February 2010 beta launch.
Curious site owners can give Feedbackify a try for free for 15 days.
