Samsung smart voice assistant Bixby was first announced along side the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and later it was announced that Bixby will be coming to its range of home appliances soon. The tech giant had also announced that the Europe edition of the Family Hub smart refrigerator will come with the Bixby smart assistant starting from the second quarter of the year. Samsung has already introduced Bixby to the Family Hub in Korea and recently Bixby U.S English was introduced. Now, Samsung will be adding European languages in several phases this year.
The move is targeted at making Bixby accessible to the European market where Smart Home Appliances seems to have gained some ground. Samsung will commence the expansion by making Bixby available in British English, German, French, and Italian. As you already know, Bixby already supports English Language but Samsung will likely introduce the Voice Recognition function that is specialized to Britain rather than the North American market. A Samsung Exec, DO Young-soo also disclosed in an interview that the tech giant was going to expand home appliances that are controlled with Bixby globally with the addition of major European languages to Bixby by the end of this year.
The Family Hub refrigerator is a major IoT gadget with several functions apart from voice recognition. It is designed as a hub which can control other appliances such as microwave, oven, range hood and others in the kitchen. In order to make it user-friendly, Samsung installed a large display in front of the top cabin door so that users can control and maximise the functions of the smart fridge. Even more appealing is the inclusion of Samsung Connect on the Family Hub. This feature would enable home owners take control of their various Samsung smart devices as well as other smart gadgets irrespective of whether they run on Tizen OS, Android or iOS.
These features are coming on the new generation smart fridges known as Family Hub 2.0. The tech giant is making efforts to ramp up the features available for Family Hub owners before it will reportedly upgrade to Family Hub 3.0. An industry insider hints that Samsung Electronics is going to include many new contents and functions with connectivity at the center with Family Hub 3.0. By adding European languages to Korean and English, Samsung will be building better-customized products, that will suit each client based on his country he resides and the language he understands better. Samsung has got formidable competitors in Europe like Bosch-Siemens, Miele, and Electrolux but expanding its AI to be able to receive voice commands in several languages put Samsung on the front line.
