Doogee’s new S200 rugged smartphone puts a little bit of MechWarrior into your pocket

The last time I smashed my smartphone it was while I was trying to pay the guy who cleans our windows. Despite my attempt at catching it on my foot in a move I envision Lionel Messi might pull off, it fell to the ground and shattered on the concrete. It was an expensive window clean. I never forgave him.

Unlike my iPhone, Doogee’s latest rugged smartphone, the S200 would quite probably have lived to see another day. The new Android 14, massive battery packing, high-end-camera sporting, looks like I should take it into battle in my Mech is “designed to meet the demands of the most challenging environments while offering cutting-edge features and exceptional performance.”

And by challenging environments, I hope it includes paying tradesmen and being clumsy.

“The S200 showcases a striking Mecha Design, inspired by battle armor, that exudes power and futurism.” That bit is directly from the press release but I can’t really disagree. This is a mean-looking phone that Jonny Ives and his iPhone brethren would choke on if I whipped this out at a design meeting. And that’s also what makes it a talking point in a world where everybody has the same phones in their pocket.

The Doogee S200 not only looks different but the dual-screen system features a 120Hz refresh rate 6.72” main display and a rear-mounted screen nestled between the three cameras that can show a variety of useful modes including a cool-looking chronometer or see who is calling you while you are rumbling into battle in your mechanical war suit.

Sporting a 120MP Ultra Clear camera that also records 4K at 30FPS, it is enhanced by the Morpho Imaging Algorithm that uses, yes you guessed it, AI, to make your photos better. It can even take photos up to five feet underwater so you can capture those little fish swimming around your feet on the beach when you go for a paddle.

There is no point to having all this high-end tech though if it is not protected by a hardcore aerospace-grade aluminum case that will keep it safe from the likes of water, dust, and sand.

Anyway, if you are in the market for a new smartphone that makes you look tougher than you probably are and don’t wish to give Google or Apple any more of your money, you can pick up the Doogee S200 on Amazon now and get $90 off the RRP.

Equally if you don’t want to give Bezos your money either you can get it direct from Doogee with an extra discount of $50. Just try not to get your Mech blown up.
