California Powerball player wins $207 million jackpot

A Powerball player in California has won a $207 million jackpot, as well as two smaller prize winners, as announced by lottery officials.

Lottery officials have announced that a winner in Arleta, Los Angeles has won a $207 million prize after matching all five white numbers and the Powerball on May 31. The winning numbers were 1, 29, 37, 56, and 68, with the Powerball at 13.

Two other players have also won smaller but no less life-changing amounts of $2 million. The Powerball-winning ticket was bought at a 7-Eleven convenience store in Arleta, but the winner has yet to come forward to claim their prize, with them having one year to do so. There’s no requirement to reveal your identity if you claim your winnings.

Two other players, one in Florida and one in New Hampshire, managed to match all five white numbers, bagging themselves $2 million each as they had the Power Play feature active. Coming just behind, 14 players across the country matched four white balls and the Powerball, meaning nine of them will get $50,000 and five will win $100,000 (thanks again to the Power Play feature).

What is the Power Play feature in Powerball?

The Power Play feature allows non-jackpot winners to double their winnings for a small fee, which has enabled some of the players listed above to earn a lot more than they typically would.

For those who matched all five white numbers, for example, each winner would have only taken home $1 million, instead of the $2 million they ended up with.

The May 31 jackpot win comes over a month after the last Powerball jackpot, which went to a lucky winner from Kentucky in April 2025. They took home winnings worth $167 million with a cash value of $77.3 million.

Now that the jackpot has been drawn on May 31, the fund has been reset to $20 million with a cash value of $9 million.
