Do you need an interactive poll for your website? Like, right this very second?
If you have a multiple choice question you’d like to ask your site visitors or Twitter followers and don’t feel like signing up for and test-driving a service like PollDaddy or SurveyMonkey, a new startup called Flisti wants to help.
As the site’s tag line would suggest, Flisti.com lets you “Create free online polls without signing up.” The site could hardly be more straightforward: Its homepage invites users to enter a question and a series of potential answers, decide whether or not allow multiple answers to a single question, and then click the “Create new poll” button.
What results is a simple Web poll on a page whose short URL can be shared easily via social media. Beneath the typical Facebook, Twitter and Buzz sharing buttons, a link labeled “Put this poll on your blog/website” spits out the HTML necessary to do precisely that.
Rather than handing over a JavaScript snippet, Flisti gives users the raw, unstyled HTML so they can customize it to fit their site or even write CSS rules to make it prettier.
The only potential drawback for some is that the entire experience can’t be embedded on one’s site. When the poll is submitted, it redirects users to the poll results page on Flisti’s site, which also contains a single Google AdSense unit. This is quite understandably one way in which Flisti’s creators hope to monetize the fledgling service.
