Altenar extends Starcasino partnership to go live in the Netherlands

Altenar has confirmed a partnership with Starcasino to activate its sportsbook offering in the Netherlands.

The two entities had already collaborated in the Belgian market, but now they have expanded to the neighboring European country.

Altenar, the Isle of Man-based software provider, has been the provider for Starcasino’s online and retail betting services in Belgium since 2022, with the success of that venture leading to mutual growth.

Alejandro Cazorla, Senior Sales Manager at Altenar, said the opening for Dutch players underlines the strength of the company’s offering: “We’re proud to support Starcasino’s expansion from Belgium into the Dutch market. This growth reflects the strength of our sportsbook platform, built with the flexibility to innovate and the rigour to meet complex regulatory demands.”

“It’s a testament to our commitment to long-term customer success and delivering scalable, compliant solutions.”

Starcasino director Pieter van den Bos believes the launch provides a new, attractive option for players in the Netherlands.

“Following the success of our collaboration with Altenar in Belgium, Starcasino is thrilled to introduce a unique sportsbook platform to the Dutch market,” he stated.

“We firmly believe that Altenar’s cutting-edge features, combined with Starcasino’s competitive odds and exclusive promotional tools, create a fresh and innovative betting experience tailored for sports enthusiasts in the Netherlands,” added van den Bos.

Stringent regulatory enforcement in the Netherlands

The entry into the country is an attractive prospect given the upward trend in the Dutch market over the last few years, but it comes at a time of increasing scrutiny applied by the Kansspelautoriteit regulator.

The authority is coming down hard on unregulated operators as well as those licensed providers not meeting regulatory expectations. Its stringent enforcement policy is mirrored by reforms to Dutch gambling law with a new Remote Gambling Act set to be presented to parliament by the end of 2025.

Altenar has also recently entered into a partnership with MurkurXtip to provide its extensive sportsbook offering to the latter’s Czech market platform.
