Report Lists Top 10 Most Active Venture Capital Firms

Investment research firm CB Insights has released its list of the top venture capital firms of 2009-2010. CB Insights gathers data on the VC industry, tracking its investments over time and releasing quarterly reports on the number and size of investments, as well as some recent reports on the demographics of the founders receiving VC money.

The report on the top venture capital firms looks at the activity over the past year and finds that the top 30 firms participated in 663 unique deals (24.4% of all deals) with aggregate deal value of $8.67 billion in investment (37% of all investment).

The top ten firms based on deal activity are listed below. These firms had at least 28 deals each, with the most active firm of 2009-2010 being New Enterprise Associates with 59 deals.

  1. New Enterprise Asociates (59 deals)
  2. Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (52 deals)
  3. First Round Capital (48 deals)

  7. Khosla Ventures (31 deals)
