You may have heard of x264 for H.264 video encoding but recently a “x265” project has been released which consists of an open source library for H.265/HEVC video encoding which was approved in January of 2013.
This has been developed by MultiCoreWare whom have published initial code “x265” the open source projected created for the H.265/High Efficiency Video Codec. The H.265 HEVC is aimed at larger screen resolutions with UGD 8K resolutions supporting up to 8192 x 4320 and has twice the data compression ratio of the H.264 video codec.
