VMware Has New Micro Version of Cloud Foundry

When we wrote about how to get started with VMware’s Cloud Foundry last month, we mentioned that they were about to start a Micro Cloud version that replicates a complete instance of your cloud environment on your own desktop. That was officially announced today, and you can go to their site here and download the free version. As promised, it is a single VM replica of your cloud, making it easier for testing out things locally. Ironic that one of the most advanced cloud deployments can make news by coming back to the desktop?

All the same app services that are available in the cloud are available in the Micro version. Also included is Dynamic DNS support, so anyone can access the app with the right URL. VMware anticipates that people will be able to run about ten different local apps, depending on the apps themselves and on how much memory you devote to the MicroCloud VM instance.
