Santander has introduced the cashback promo for Santander 123 Lite customers. This promo will allow customers to earn 5% of their money when they make purchases with Samsung, Apple or Android Pay apps. Currently in the UK you can use this service with the Gear S3 smartwatch to make your payments. The Santander 123 Lite account has a £1 monthly bill and it already offers 1 – 3% monthly cashback for payment by direct debit. This promo is currently on and will end on Saturday, 30th September 2017. It must be noted that there are some conditions to be met before a 123 Lite account is eligible for cashback.
To be eligible for any cashback with Santander 123 Lite, you need to:
- Pay in at least £500/month
- Have two active direct debits
- Log in to online or mobile banking at least once every three months
A Santander customer needs to add her Santander 123 Lite debit card to these digital pay wallets (Samsung, Apple and Android Pay). To be on the safe side, you can set this card as the default card so that any payment you make using Samsung, Apple or Android Pay systems will be billed from this card. You can earn a massive sum if you regularly use your phone to make purchases because there is no peak sum of cashback during the period and most retailers don’t usually apply the £30 contactless limit to mobile payment. Please note that all cashback earned will be paid into your account in one block sum by the end of November.
This is a very interesting offer and many will be tempted to go for it. However, there are some simple maths to be done before getting started. If you already hold a Santander 123 Lite account, you are as good as set for cashback but if you plan to open the Santander 123 account for cashback then you need to know that considering the limit of time for thhe promo (till September 30th) and the £1 monthly fee of the account, you’ll earn a net £22 (after paying the monthly fee) if you spend £500 via Apple, Android or Samsung Pay by the end of September (an average £7.20/day). Thus this package is most suitable for customers who have hefty spending plans or got household bills to pay because the more you spend, the more the cashback.
How does Santander 123 Lite work?
The cashback sum you earn is worked out automatically by Santander and like I said earlier, it will be paid into your account in one lump sum. As well as mobile cashback, you also get cashback on qualifying bills paid by direct debit:
- Water and council tax bills and Santander monthly mortgage payments (though mortgage cashback is capped at £10/month), you will get 1%.
- You get 2% on gas and electricity bills and Santander home insurance
- And 3% on mobile and home phone bills, broadband and paid-for TV packages
