Unity have promised to form an alliance with Tizen by developing a toolkit for the operating system allowing the Unity 3D Engine to be played on Tizen Operating System bringing 100’s of new games and gaming developers to the Tizen Operating System as Unity proves that is completely cross platform.
Tizen itself is an open source operating system which is based on MeeGo running HTML5 elements and Webkit supported by many manufacturers , the dream of Tizen is to provide an OS to many cross platform devices whether it be TVs or entertainment systems.
The plan is to allow developers to build and publish games for Tizen smartphones and tablets via the Tizen Store a little later this year. Come launch time some Unity games we are more familiar with will be available for devices running Tizen.
This news comes after a statement by David Helgason the CEO of Unity Technologies , whom stated: “Unity and Tizen have a lot in common in that they both aim to make the creation and the deployment of games and other apps as easy as possible for developers. Tizen’s broad OEM support and big market potential will provide another excellent avenue for our amazing community of mobile developers to find success.”
Prior Unity mobile publishing was costly but Unity changed this last week which will encourage more developers onboard.
