As Expected, Samsung Unveiled their next Smartwatch offering, the Samsung Gear 2 at Mobile World Congress #MWC14, which unknown to many is actually Tizen based. This seems to address some of the design issues or failings that the first Samsung Gear Smartwatch suffered from.
The new design is now slicker and less chunky. Battery life is now expected to be in the 2-3 days region rather than the disappointing 25 hours of its previous sibling. Also a nice welcome is the IP67 certification for water and dust resistance, which lets it compete outdoors with the likes of the Pebble Smartwatch. Another good move is the addition of an IR blaster that utilises the Watch-On application. Yes Samsung, we like!
